coursebooks, rain, adventures

The fall ‘08 course schedule just went online, so I’m agonizing (in a good way) over my options– there is an honors course called Religion and Politics that I am just about drooling over (too much info?), to the point that I’m sacrificing an accelerated Elementary Latin course for it.  I have a rough list of everything I need to take for my majors and when, approximately, I might be taking it, but there are too many classes I want!  I may have to take another look at the plan to allow for the fact that there’s always some amazing class that’s being offered only one time.  Still, I do need to graduate eventually.  I can (and do) justify 5 years, but that’s where I’m drawing the line.

At the moment, it’s looking like next semester I’m taking Religion and Politics, sociology of the family, introductory methodology, introduction to international studies (about time, right?), Intro to francophone lit, and honors meditation theory and practice.  plus band, if my college office deigns to allow me 19 credit hours. I’ve never succeeded in giving myself friday off or something silly like that, unlike people I know, but if I get my classes, I will be starting at 11:30 am three days a week, and 9:30 the other two (earliest class at BG yet).

It pays to be an Honors student.  Thanks to preferred scheduling and AP-inflated class standing, I register first–honors seniors and juniors go before everyone but the grads.  Unfortunately, that puts my registration time squarely during my Burkina Faso internet blackout.  But I’m going to bribe a friend with French presents and have it taken care of.

It’s been raining all day.  No, that’s not true.  It wasn’t raining this morning when I chose my footwear.  France Meteo promised me 55 degrees and a light fog burning off quickly.  I couldn’t find any socks, so I decided to wear the ol’ birkenstocks.  ironically, when I crossed the courtyard of the Institut an hour later during the break, the temperature had dropped about 10 degrees and it had begun to rain.  sigh.  mes pauvres pieds.  then again, I may karmically deserve it, after the sun this weekend.  My face even got a little tanned.  relatively speaking.  I am from wisconsin, after all.

off to do some homework now, I will save the tales from Provence for the next time.
